Description:
This position will be a direct support to the Executive Director and responsible for completing tasks that maintain the smooth operations of Canvas Early Learning Center (ELC). The administrative assistant will carry out tasks related to the hiring and onboarding of employees, enrollment of children, submitting reports, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, updating and maintaining the website and social media sites, supervising volunteers and lab students, and maintaining strict guidelines outlined by State Licensing Regulations, Canvas ELC’s policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Communicate regularly with Executive Director; support Executive Director in maintaining Canvas standards and culture

Maintain, update, and utilized technology tools effectively and support the streamlining of each system to benefit Canvas: website, social media, Brightwheel.

Work with Executive Director to increase the visibility and presence of Canvas in the Dillon and surrounding community
-
Support the team in completing and sustaining state and Early Childhood Practioner’s Registry requirements.

Assist Executive Director and the board in revenue diversification.
-
Data collecting, entry, and recordkeeping.
-
Maintain and submit documentation and reports for payment: Best Beginnings scholarship, CACFP, etc.

Intake and onboarding of staff and families
-
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:
-
Associate or higher in Early Childhood Education, Business, or related area and 1-year experience working in an assistant or higher capacity.

OR a combination of education and experience

Skills and Abilities:

Communicates effectively in verbal and written formats

Demonstrates knowledge of computer applications such as Office 365, website editing, social media platforms, childcare management platforms, etc.

Description:
This position is responsible for the education and care of a group of young children within the 0-5 age range. Canvas Early Learning Center is a self-funded program located on the campus of the University of Montana Western. The Lead Teacher should be committed to the early childhood profession, as well as exemplary care and education of young children.
Lead Teachers should demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate practice across all age groups, inquiry- and play-based learning, positive child guidance strategies, parents as partners, and the Montana Early Learning Standards. Key functions of this position will be to plan the care and education of up to 20 children daily, supervise assistants and volunteers, and uphold strict guidelines according to state licensing and the Early Learning Center’s vision, mission, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the exemplary care, health, and safety of up to 20 children in a classroom and care environment.

Plan developmentally appropriate, emergent curriculum and facilitate learning in a play-based environment.

Keep detailed records of children’s abilities and growth, attendance, health, safety and nutrition, and licensing requirements
-
Build relationships with families and the community by communicating regularly and conducting conferences/home visits as necessary. Meetings may occur during non-standard work hours.

Supervise, communicate with, and create a team environment for rotating assistant teachers.
-
Supervise volunteers.
-
Uphold and model the vision, mission, policies, and procedures of the Early Learning Center.

Meet with the Director weekly to discuss classroom needs, challenges, and programming.
Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 24 credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Special Education, or related field.
-
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of successful experience in an Early Childhood Education setting.

Provide: a copy of immunizations and fingerprints in accordance with state licensure

Knowledge:

Licensing requirements, health, safety, and nutrition as it applies to the classroom and children.

Positive child guidance strategies as tools for classroom management, knowledge of social-emotional development, trauma-informed practices, and building community within the classroom.

Developmentally Appropriate Practices, planning highly interactive learning experiences, creating and facilitating engaging learning experiences through play and the environment, writing and implementing robust plans for learning.

If not already knowledgeable, willing to learn technology and tools such as Microsoft Office applications, Childcare management hubs, etc. to maximize use and troubleshoot issues.

Supervise a classroom team of rotating assistants and volunteers ensuring that programming needs are met.

Communicate effectively with children, families, administration, and staff verbally and through a variety of means; ensuring that everyone stays up-to-date on the endeavors of the program. Develops systems to maintain communication and classroom procedures.

Keep detailed, accurate records of authentic assessment data, licensing requirements, and classroom budget.

Exercise good judgment and diplomacy in all situations, especially when involving families and the community or the safety of the children.

Description
This position is one that requires exemplary care of children. A person filling this position will be direct support to the Lead Teacher and will be left in charge in the absence of one or more Lead Teachers. This position will be required to maintain all qualifications for regulation of a Lead Teacher (ECLT), including maintaining the status of a Level 2 or above on the Early Childhood Project’s Practitioners Registry, current CPR & Pediatric First Aid, and 16 new Professional Development hours each year. This person will maintain a high standard for the health and safety of the children of the center and will be the contact person for parents and guardians during times when teachers are unavailable.

The Teacher’s assistant aids in the care and education of the children within their designated classroom. Persons filling this position will possess the skills and abilities necessary for the lead teacher and/or primary assistants to provide calm, rich learning experiences to up to 20 children. Teacher’s assistants will maintain all requirements necessary for state licensure, including registering on the Early Childhood Project’s Practitioners' Registry and completing initial training. A person filling this role must demonstrate a high regard for children’s health and safety.
